SAP Hana Express virtual machine installation - Part 1
This is part 1 of a full step by step guide to show you how to Install your own SAP HANA database on your own laptop for free
Right, let's get started with step 1 which is to install the Virtual Machine player that will run the HANA express virtual machine/instance. The
software we are going to use for this is VMware Workstation player 12.5
Step 1 - Download the workstation player from the VMwware website
First go to the VMware website and download the VMware Workstation player 12.5

Once this file has download execute it from the chrome browser
or go to the directory location of the downloaded file and execute it (double click)
Now simply follow the steps to install the player, press next
accept the terms and press next
Choose your installation directory ensuring it has plenty of space. I didnt install the enhanced keyboard driver!
You can choose to check for updates or send anonymous data if you want, otherwise leave these unselected
Again you can select your own preference for shortcut creation
Now click the install button to install the workstation player
Once installed click the finish button
For none commercial use you can use the payer for free so click skip on the enter license option
Step 1 - Download the workstation player from the VMwware website
We are not quite ready to use this yet but you just need to make sure it is installed ok and working so find the created icon on your desktop or start bar and execute the program.
If you have a license enter it here, or enter your email address to use for free for non-commercial use. Then on the next screen click finish and the player should execute
The Workstation player should load and look something like this.
Step 1 - Download the workstation player from the VMwware website
We now need to open a virtual machine but first, we need to download the HANA express virtual machine file from SAP. We will then be able to open it and execute/play the virtual machine.Related Articles
